Legal requirements govern the storage of fuel in and about non-workplaces. The Petroleum-Spirit (Plastic Containers) Regulations 1982 apply to the keeping petrol (for use in an internal combustion engine) at domestic premises and other places where persons are not employed to work and impose restrictions on the: • construction, nominal capacity (5 litres) and marking of (plastic) containers; • places where they can be kept; and • maximum number of plastic containers (2) that can be kept in any place
